Let me set your mind at ease, you are definitely not alone in your concerns/fears about vasectomies. (lets face it, guys get a little squeamish about having sharp instruments situated anywhere near their private parts)

Having a vasectomy is a big decision for a man. It is really as much an emotional and intellectual decision as it is a physical one. I have found that many men wrestle with the fact that this is a life-changing event and the end of the fertile or procreative part of their life. There is a right time and a wrong time for men to make this decision (see reasons for a man not to have a vasectomy). I have found that most men make this decision between the ages of 30 and 45 when they have 2 or 3 children. This is the average but it is in no means the only people who have found to be in need of this excellent and permanent form of birth control.
